Hey Energy Efficiency folks,

since Joseph asked particularly for ideas I wanted to suggest some topics we are currently working on and you can judge if they are of interest to you:

1. We are working on a machine learning model for Cloud environments where measurement is not possible. The model is based on the open dataset of https://www.spec.org/power_ssj2008/results/ <https://www.spec.org/power_ssj2008/results/> and contains a somewhat lengthy EDA to find relevant parameters.

All the work is currently open source on Github: https://github.com/green-coding-berlin/spec-power-model <https://github.com/green-coding-berlin/spec-power-model>

We could present the work and challenges on the model alongside its current accuracy and applicability.
#
2. In the research to work on our Green Metrics Tool (https://github.com/green-coding-berlin/green-metrics <https://github.com/green-coding-berlin/green-metrics>-tool) we have developed some tooling to find and judge the current configuration state of a machine regarding performance relevant settings.
Namely stuff like TurboBoost, Hyper-Threading etc.

For the work with the open source group boavizta we are currently trying to glue this into their https://github.com/Boavizta/Energizta/ <https://github.com/Boavizta/Energizta/> project, which aims to be an open alternative to proprietary databases like SPECPower.

Here we could present our tool for evaluation certain machine configurations and how to create a benchmarking tool that puts energy as a metric first.

Besten Gruß / Best regards,

Arne Tarara
