open console (terminal window) somewhere in the menu. type 
¨kdebugdialog>enter¨ scrol down to digikam, check it, click ¨Apply¨ and ¨ok¨
Now type ¨digikam->enter¨.
Digikam starts, perform a convert action, open your console and look 
whats' there.
Done!
