No idea. Perhaps the font settings used in the KDE does not gel well with
QtWebKit's and one of the many many changes in 2.1.x fixed the issue ? Anyhow,
I personally suggest that you stick with the 2.1 version since it contains a
huge number of important fixes. [1]

Anyhow, I am going to close this as an upstream issue that has already been
fixed since there is nothing we (read: KDE) can do about rendering related
problems in QtWebKit.
