The device notifier indicates that the device can be safely removed.

The icon used to display that is an alarming red cross that I would normally
associate with error conditions.

Also the green tick sign on the other side does not really convey the fact that
the drive can be safely removed. Without checking fstab, I would have said it
was mounted.
