Bug ID: 501735
Summary: Desktop flash when mousing between window thumbnails
from dock
Classification: I don't know
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
Reporter: nik at ngo.org.uk
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
There's an inactive border around thumbnails that appear when you hover over a
running app in the bottom dock/taskbar. This results in a flash of the full
desktop when moving the mouse over the thumbnails.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open an app that supports multiple windows (e.g., Firefox)
2. Open multiple windows
3. Hover the mouse over the app's icon in the taskbar/dock
4. Wait for the thumbnails of the app's open windows to appear immediately
above the icon
5. Move the mouse up, to one of the thumbnails.
6. All other windows on the screen are temporarily hidden, showing just the
window represented by the thumbnail
7. Move the mouse left or right, to one of the other thumbnails
OBSERVED RESULT
As you move the mouse left or right there is a padding/margin/border area
around each thumbnail. When the mouse moves in to this area all the windows on
the desktop are shown.
When the mouse moves out of this area and into the next thumbnail all the
windows on the desktop are hidden again except for the window represented by
the thumbnail.
This leads to a lot of window flashing.
EXPECTED RESULT
There is no effective border between the thumbnails so that moving the mouse
between them does not briefly show all other windows on the desktop.
