Bug ID: 501189
Summary: PowerDevil does not re-trigger standby timer after
video playback prevents suspension
Classification: I don't know
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
Reporter: christian.bering1 at gmail.com
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
When setting the standby timeout in the KDE Plasma power management settings to
1 minute, the system correctly enters standby mode after 1 minute of
inactivity. However, if a video is playing, the standby is prevented (as
expected). The problem arises after the video playback ends: the standby timer
does not restart, and the system never goes into standby again until user
interaction occurs.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set the standby timeout to 1 minute in KDE Plasma power management settings.
2. Wait 1 minute and observe that the system correctly goes into standby
3. Play a video (e.g., in a web browser or media player).
4. The standby is prevented while the video is playing (expected behavior).
5. Wait until the video ends.
6. Observe that the system never enters standby again unless there is user
input.
OBSERVED RESULT
Once the standby is prevented due to video playback, the timeout is never
restarted, and the system remains active indefinitely until user input occurs.
EXPECTED RESULT
After the video playback ends, the standby timer should be re-triggered, and
the system should enter standby after the configured timeout.
