Bug ID: 490240
Summary: can't connect to android in wayland without dolphin
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
Product: kio-extras
Version: 24.05.2
Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
Severity: critical
Priority: NOR
Component: MTP
Assignee: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
Reporter: sonicbluesky at proton.me

Target Milestone: ---
Error - KIOExec
Malformed URL
mtp:udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-5/1-5.3/.
OK
that is the title and message in an error window. after installing artix-base,
i installed plasma, and did not have dolphin, nor was i aware i was "missing"
dolphin (am i "missing" dolphin if i use plamsa without it? if plasma requires
dolphin, then why isn't the package installed as a dependency?). i have thunar.
if i plug my phone in, a pop-up appears from the systray. it shows
SAMSUNG_Android. if i click "Open in File Manager", then that is when the above
error message appears. if i then close that and go to thunar and try to open
SAMSUNG_Android, it gives a different error message:
Error
Failed to mount "SAMSUNG Android".
Unable to open MTP device "001,016".
Close
if, however, i unplug my phone, reboot, and do NOT click on "Open in File
Manager" but instead go straight to thunar and open, then i can access my
phone.
couldn't take screen shot in wayland:
Error
Compositor does not support wlr-screencopy-unstable-v1
OK
if i use scrot to try to take a screenshot, the resulting image is pure black.
i don't know why the above error references a package with the word "unstable"
in it. i am not trying to run anything "unstable". is wayland considered
"unstable"?
when i couldn't get anything to work, i also downloaded a few gvfs mtp packages
and tried android-file-transfer but nothing worked.
