First of all, thanks for the reply.

Typographic layout is what it says it is — a layout which you use to type
typographic symbols such as ©®™ or «» using lv3 switch key. This feature is
known in xkb for at least 10 years IIRC. I can't attach crash logs right now,
but these aren't actually needed to observe the incorrect behavior of the
indicator. I should specify where exactly does the crash happen: in the panel
indicator settings, when you try to open it IIRC. I believe this should be
enough to start working on this issue
