Bug ID: 462077
Summary: Link KDE Invent Repository in "About" Section
Classification: I don't know
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
Reporter: indecisiveautomator at gmail.com
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
The KDE Invent GitLab is quite well structured, but as there are so many
projects it can be difficult to know where each application falls in each of
the groups.
I think it would be neat if KDE Apps' "About" section. Currently most (all?)
KDE apps link to their respective kde.org pages, which most or all have a link
to "Browse Source Code". However, a more direct link to the repository would go
a long way imo. A direct link to the source would put it to the forefront of
users who are looking for it, instead of relegating it to a link in a sidebar
on the application page where it could get lost. Actually, I didn't even know
there was a link on that page, and had to edit this report to include this
tidbit because I missed it entirely in searching!
This feature request is a little bit "out there", but I think it would be a
nice addition :) It may not benefit a lot of users, but for users who want to
directly browse or maybe even contribute, it would be a nice gesture.
OBSERVED RESULT
KDE apps' "About" dialogs do not directly link to the GitLab repository.
EXPECTED RESULT
KDE apps should link directly to the GitLab repository, to encourage merge
requests and collaborative development.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 6.0.9-zen1-1-zen
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.100.0
Qt Version: 5.15.7
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm not even close to being able to contribute to KDE yet, but one day I would
like to, and making the GitLab links more accessible could go a long way :)
