Thanks for the tip. I tried it and activated "allow resizing maximized windows
from window edges". Then I was only able to resize windows at the corner.
However, I reverted it back to defaults with resizing maximized windows
deactivated and now I can correctly close.

Seems this was just a glitch on my side. Many thanks ;)
