These days it seems like "AppRun" is AppImage
(https://github.com/AppImage/AppImageKit) - basing this guess on things like
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/38772874/apprun-file-format.

I've had reasonable success with appimaged
(https://github.com/AppImage/AppImageKit/blob/09dfd37b6115881800fd35489b413032942b9859/README.md#appimaged-usage).
