An attached screenshot would be a help in seeing what the problem is.

Also, what layout and what tile set are you using (see menu Settings->Configure
KMahjongg...)?
Or we can see that ourselves if you can attach a screenshot.

And what version of KDE (see menu Help->About KDE)?
