I can confirm the same behaviour as of  4:4.14.6-0ubuntu1, the issue can also
be solved by using the domain with a backslash prior de username
"DOMAIN\username" but it requires a knowledge that people might not have.
Moreover in ubuntu the domain is asked, also in programs such as remmina (the
most popular rdesktop client)
