Are you really using KDE 4.14? What is your distribution? In the screen shot I
see the old Display module, not KScreen. If your distribution did not replace
the display module with kscreen, then all your recent reports are invalid.

Also, please try to reproduce using System Settings. It is possible that using
"Alt+F2 display", the KGamma tab is preloaded, and responsible for the reset.
