Adding the trashcan plasmoid is the preferred way. It should work, I see no
functional bugs reported for it, I tried it quickly, and it worked as expected
(opens Dolphin when clicking on it, you can empty it, and drag files into it).

Reassigning to plasma developers for inspection.
