I confirm tha alt-7 is also a problem for me, not just alt-1. Other numbers are
ok. This is a strange bug, foreign keyboards somehow map these combinations and
they stay mapped when switching from one to the other.

Is there any indication that this will get fixed? It is a major setback for
international users of emacs and advanced readline features.
