Bug ID: 299515
Severity: normal
Version: unspecified
Priority: NOR
Assignee: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
Summary: Desktop shifts to the right of the screen
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux
Reporter: edk.83.84 at spamgourmet.com
Hardware: Ubuntu Packages
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Component: general
Product: kde
Once the session is opened, the desktop/workspace (ie its wallpaper and its
icons) is found shifted by 1.8 cm to the right of the screen. A black strip of
1.8 cm is found in the left side of the screen. 3 virtual desktops were set up
in this Kubuntu session and the issue is the same in all 3.
This issue occurred when icons (shortcuts to applications) were added in the
right part of one of the 3 virtual desktops. Restarting the computer does not
solve the issue. Changing the resolution of the screen does not solve the
issue. Coming back to the native video driver (instead of the nVIDIA driver)
does not solve the issue.
Only the desktop is involved in this issue. Once an application is launched
(even from a shortcut on the desktop), its window takes the full screen
(without any shift to the right and it covers the left black strip which is not
seen anymore).
Reproducible: Didn't try
OS: Linux Kubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.04 64 bits; KDE 4.8.2
Computer: Clevo W870CU; Intel Core i7; screen 17.3'' 1920x1080; video nVIDIA
GTX 280M.
