Summary: Do not close menus when selecting (clicking) if
multiple selections are possible (checkbox items)
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: sven.burmeister at gmx.net
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.8.0)
OS: Linux
There are many menu's within KDE that allow multiple selections, yet close
after the first selection (click). E.g. right-click on a window's title bar >
activities or in dolphin's menu the additional information etc.
Closing the menu on the first selection (click) adds multiple mouse clicks,
i.e. if one has five activities and wants to have a window on three of them one
has to click and move the mouse _nine_ times.
If the menu would not close after the first selection on a checkbox there would
only be five clicks and a lot less needed mouse movement.
There might even be menus that have radio+checkbox lists and could be left
open, e.g. dolphin's view > sort by.
If one selects the criterion to sort by the menu is closed although one could
still pick "descending" and "folders first" (two checkbox items).
So IMHO it would be useful that all menus that allow multiple selection, i.e.
with checkboxes, do not close when one selects an item but only when clicking
outside them.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open a menu with checkboxes, i.e. multiple items can be selected and enabled
- Select all of them
Actual Results:
The menu closes after each item the user has selected
Expected Results:
Do not close when selecting as multiple selections are possible within that
menu.
