Summary: Hitting ctrl+s on a new file causes the saved dialog
to stop working.
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: jebus315 at yahoo.com
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux
I've experienced this in both Kate and Kile (LaTex editor). Opening the
application, entering input on a new-file and then pressing CTRL+S causes the
save dialog to stop accepting keyboard input. Even cancel and using the mouse
to select save / save-as doesn't resolve the issue. The only way to fix it is
to reload the application and initially save by using the mouse to select
save/save-as.
Similarly opening an existing file and then attempting to run Save-As using
ALT+A causes the same problems.
Similarly opening the application and hitting CTRL+O freezes input on the
dialog.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Open Kate (or Kile or probably other applications) with a new-file.
Hit CTRL+S
Attempt to enter a filename.
Cancel.
Press save or save-as button and attempt to enter a file-name.
OR
Do as per above but on an existing file and select save-as using ALT+A.
OR
Do as per above but use CTRL+O to attempt to open a file after just launching
the application.
Actual Results:
The save-dialog appears after pressing CTRL+S however it is impossible to enter
any filename. All keyboard input (including delete .etc.) is ignored. Even
canceling and pressing the save button instead causes the same issues.
However, if initially rather than pressing CTRL+S, I hit the save button then
there is no problems.
Expected Results:
For keyboard input to work in the save / save-as / open dialog even if I
initially open the dialog using a keyboard shortcut after launching the
application.
Using the Anthy IME with Japanese input on a Japanese keyboard. The bug occurs
whether I use direct input or Japanese input through the IME.
No such issues occur with GTK applications.
