Ok, things I think might affect this:

1. qtcurve widget style ("flat" preset)
2. slight autohinting in fontconfig
3. droid sans font for interface
4. this might also be a bug of freetype2 with infinality patches that I'm
using, although I don't see how it would only affect this specific aspect of
KDE
