For me it is kswapd0 which eats up CPU (vanilla KDE on 64-bit with 2GB RAM, 3.0
kernel) on an ext4 partition. Switched to xfce and everything is fine. Tried to
reduce swappiness but KDE remains unusable on that machine (works fine on 4GB,
mind).
