Summary: Strange things happen when restoring e.g. kontact from
systray
Product: kde
Version: 4.6
Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: steffen.schloenvoigt at googlemail.com
Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.3)
OS: Linux
Hi devs,
this one seems to be quite tricky and is somewhat hard to explain, but I will
try - I've assigned this issue to KDE because it influences the whole desktop
somehow.
Ok, I have Kontact running and the Tray Icon enabled for KMail to be always
shown. Now Kontact sits minimized in my tray.
Sometimes when I open it up, Kontact restores but I can't click anything -
instead whenever I click somewhere on the Screen Kontact minimizes again - but
that's not all, when I click again somewhere on the screen it restores again.
After several clicks the system seems to catch up again so I can at least work
in other applications - but there is another problem: It's not possible to move
the windows or use one of the window operations (minimize...). An Alt+F2
followed by "kwin --replace" usually fixes that.
But after that, the Applications in the Plasma Task Bar are not clickable - at
least until I sometimes clicked wildly on it after what it starts to react
again.
So I really don't know what's causing it but it seems some weired combination
of Kontact, the Systray, KWin and Plasma which is leading to that effect. Maybe
it may also be an X error but that's all suspisions.
Reproducible: Sometimes
KDE packages come from the openSUSE Tumbleweed repository but I experienced the
behaviour also with the packages from default 11.4 and the Factory repository.
Hardware is a Lenovo T60 Laptop with Radeon X1400 Mobility graphics powerer by
the open source radeon (r300) driver at a 1680x1050 resolution.
Current Kernel is 2.6.39-30-desktop
X.Org X Server 1.9.3
Mesa 7.10.2-7.3.1
