I'm having a similar issue on KDE 4.5 on Kubuntu (deb based). Not sure if it's
related as I'm not using Copy and Paste from the context menus.

Occasionally, for no reason, the mouse starts acting in a quite bizarre
fashion. The pointer will still move, but moving the mouse over anything (e.g.
buttons, K Menu, etc.) seems to be non responsive, the items don't highlight,
and when clicked, nothing happens.

At the same time, the ALT keys seem to stop working too, meaning I can't
ALT+Tab between programs. The rest of the keyboard still seems to work. Could
be a K-Win issue, I'm not quite sure.

If I Ctrl+Alt+F1, I DO get to the console, and from there I can kill and
restart KDM and everything works fine again.

Figure that one out ;-)
