Summary: slow thumbnails creation on dvd drives
           Product: kio
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Mandriva RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: thumbnail
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: king_duckz at yahoo.it

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.5)
OS: Linux

Thumbnail creation of multimedia files (especially videos) causes the DVD head
to seek to and fro. I'm assuming those thumbnails are built by multiple
threads/processes, but while this may be optimal on regular disks, it causes
slowdowns on optical readers.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Create a DVD with multiple videos that are big enough (eg mp4, ogm and so on,
300+mb each)
explore the dvd with dolphin or equivalent
listen to the dvd reader's noise as it tries to keep up with the read requests
(most evident on notebooks)

Expected Results:
If the architecture allows this, the code spawning multiple processes should
only load one preview at a time if source data comes from an optical disk
reader.
