I'm getting this, too on a Dell Latitude XT with 2 gig of RAM running Kubuntu
Natty with FOSS ATI drivers which has KDE 4.6.0. KDED4 ram usage creeps up
about a third of a meg every second, which adds up really fast!

I've had KDE 4.6.0 since it was first packaged for Natty (just before the
official release date) and the problem only started for me a few days ago after
doing an update.

Memory usage continues to creep up even without any apps open (only plasmoids
are two copies of the microblogging widget).
