Dialog you get when copying toward a "protected" folder
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux
If you are trying to copy a file to e.g. /usr/share/, you will always get a
message that “copying toward this folder is not allowed due to permissions.”
That's all you'll get.
Wouldn't it be much easier, that when this happens, you get a message like:
"Only root has permission to this folder. Please fill in your password."
This would be much easier for everyone, not just for beginners.
You also have the same problem when you downloaded an executable file.
Many times you have to "chmod" the file at first. (or right click, go to the
permissions tab, enable "is executable" etc.)
Wouldn't it be much easier instead that when you open the file, you directly
get a dialog which asks you “File isn't marked as executable due to security
reasons. If you're sure this file can't harm your computer, do you like to make
the file executable?”
I am sure there are much better dialog texts of course, because I don't speak
English in my daily live.
I am not really sure to which program I have to assign the wish. There are many
programs that have this behavior.
Again, sorry for my English, but thank you for reading.
