Summary: KDE Address Bar Inconsistencies (Windows)
Product: kde
Version: 4.5
Platform: MS Windows
OS/Version: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: sl...as...h.a.3+kdebugs at gmail.com
Version: 4.5 (using KDE 4.5.4)
OS: MS Windows
In Dolphin on KDE for Windows, an address with the filename, for example,
C:/somefile.txt will return the error "The file or folder C:/somefile.txt does
not exist".
In Konqueror, this will work. Just as a note, once I press enter after typing
in the address, a slash is being appended to the end of the address. I'm not
sure if this is related or not.
In File Associations whilst adding an Application Preference (and browsing for
a file), the error "'C:/Program' not found, please type a valid program name."
is received. This is probably because quotes are not added and because the
program has a space in it.
When quotes ARE added, the following error is received:
'C:/Program Files/SomeGroup/SomeProgram.exe' not found, please type a valid
program name.
This occurs when the file does in fact exist.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
(using Windows Vista, not sure about other versions; using KDE for Windows)
Go into Dolphin and enter an existing address with a filename at the end of it
(that does exist). An error message should be returned stating the file or
folder does not exist.
Go into System Settings > File Associations > Edit a file association > Add an
Application Preference. Use browse to find an executable. Pressing OK should
result in an error if there is a space in the name. Add quotes around the
address and try again; this should result in an error stating that the address
was not found.
Actual Results:
For both Dolphin and the File Associations, error messages are returned stating
that the address does not exist.
Expected Results:
In both cases the address should be accepted. For File Associations, it should
work all of the time and automatically add quotes around the address if
necessary.
