Summary: If one drags and drops an application icon onto the
desktop, KDE crashes and goes away
           Product: kde
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: FreeBSD
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: wmb1204 at fuse.net

Version: unspecified (using KDE 1.2)
OS: FreeBSD

I'm running PC-BSD 8.0, which comes with KDE 4.3. I'm running Firefox from the
PC-BSD supplied PBI install file. I tried to drag and drop the Firefox icon
from the applications list to the desktop, but when I did, KDE crashed and
disappeared: no tool bar, no icons, no wallpaper, only the original KDE theme.
I used Alt-f2 to open Konsole, and typed:

move .kde4 .kde4-backup

and rebooted, which gave me a desktop back, although without the PC-BSD splash
screen after login. I have reproduced this bug three times now; it is
consistent.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
I used Firefox, but pick any application icon from the KDE start menu, and try
to drag it onto the desktop in file folder mode.

Actual Results:
See above

Expected Results:
KDE crashes and the desktop disappears. I get a dialog box that asks me to file
a bug report.

When performing this icon, I should get a dialog box that asks if I want to
copy the icon to the desktop in the manner of an alias. That desired behavior
is documented on the PC-BSD forum.
