Summary: kconf_update never completes when using NFS home
                    directories.
           Product: kde
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: ojbyer at usa.net

Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)
Compiler: gcc 4.3.4
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

When I start a KDE session on a computer other than the NFS server it is
unusably slow and continually thrashes the server hard drive. Trying to
interact with KDE desktop widgets is virtually impossible due to 20-30 second
latencies. Iotop confirms that kconf_update is generating the disk activity.

I tried leaving the session on overnight to see if kconf_update would ever
finish but after 14 hours it was still going. Is this expected behavior or is
there something that I can do to troubleshoot this?
