Summary: Support for passwords longer than 16 characters
           Product: kde
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: kelytharun at gmail.com

Version: (using KDE 4.4.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

As my experience shows KDE applications have no support for passwords that are
longer than 16 characters. This is especially problematic when you have to log
in to an external service where you have a longer password.

I discovered the problem first when I couldn't connect to my WLM account first
from Kopete, then from KMess. It worked fine from Pidgin and Meebo though.

The next time I ran into this problem was when I got a file encrypted using
symmetric encryption with GPG, having a long password set on it and KGPG
couldn't decrypt it, because of the long password.

Kontact also suffers from similar troubles, so I came to the idea it has to do
with something in the KDE Platform itself.

I hope this could be changed in the future.
