Mh, that doesn't look like a freeze.
Try this:

- After the "bt full": enter "c" on the GDB prompt and press enter 
VLC continues running
- 5 seconds after that press "Ctrl+C"
VLC is stopped again by GDB
- Enter "thread apply bt all" + Enter
- Enter "bt full" + Enter
- Copy here the output of that last command
