Summary: Kubuntu - Trash Path is not Drive Specific
           Product: kde
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: andreluizromano at hotmail.com

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

Hello,

What I want to Do: I know KDE default trash location is /home/USER/.local/Trash
but I really want to set it to another path like /media/Dados/.Trash-1000
(default Trash path of GNOME/Nautilus on my other partition) or, if possible,
set it to create a path on the root of the partition where the deleted files
were to store these files as trash (like the Nautilus - Gnome do)...

Objective: At this way I will be able to delete files faster than I do with
Dolphin File Manager (I know I can use the Shift + Del to permanently delete
files, but I really don't want them to be permanently deleted)...

PS: Actually I delete files only with Nautilus (Gnome) because it gives me that
function (Dolphin can see these deleted files under the trash:/ folder too) by
saving my deleted files in the path /media/Dados/.Trash-1000 where I can
restore my files in my Windows 7 OS too (this partition is NTFS Filesystem)

PS²: I really liked the KDE, but I need to say that the way it manages the
trash is terrible compared to the GNOME in terms of speed of the deletion... Is
this caused by the movement of the files between partitions (My data partition
(/media/Dados) to Linux partition (/home/USER/.local/Trash))?

System Info: Kubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) installed via package "kubuntu-desktop" ;
Linux Kernel *.23-generic-pak ; KDE 4.5.1 ;

Thanks for your Attention,

André M.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1 - Try to delete a file with Del shortcut (this file will be moved to the path
/home/USER/.local/Trash no matter in what partition it was - this happens with
removable media too)

Actual Results:
1 - Very low speed when deleting files and folders

2 - Files and Folder moved to another partition (Linux partition that has EXT4
as default filesystem)

3 - Deleted files and folder impossible to be recovered by Windows systems (the
partition where these files and folders were is in NTFS filesystem on purpose
because of it's compatibility with Windows, Linux and Mac OS to make the files
accessible to any OS)

Expected Results:
Create various trash paths on root of the mounted partitions on the system (no
matter if these partitions are removable or not)... Therefore, it would speed
up the deletion of the files and folders and would not change the availability
of them to other OS's because they will remain in the same partition and,
therefore, with the same filesystem...
