OpenSUSE 11.3 running KDE 4.5.3 (from openSUSE Buildservice stable tree, 
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/45/openSUSE_11.3/
without problems.
after upgrade to 4.5.4 using zypper dup, a black screen appears after login,
with only the mouse cursor visible. right mouse button shows a light-black
frame without content. only crtl-alt-backspace helps. No work possible
