For me the big problem was kmail, I here is what I found today (I was not even
searching for it).
http://userbase.kde.org/Kontact#Enabling_SOCKS.C2.A0support_in_KMail_and_KNode

So by configuring dante-client and launching "socksify kdeinit4" I was able to
use kmail again.

I'm really happy to have found this workaround, and I hope it will help some
other users.
