Summary: Phonon always disables my sound device in 4.5: no
sound in kde apps, though kmix adjusts volume fine.
Product: kde
Version: 4.5
Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: dyle at dyle.org
Version: 4.5 (using KDE 4.5.0)
OS: Linux
Switching to KDE 4.5, phonon always disables my sound device:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)
- I can't hear any sound in KDE apps.
- In Systemsettings in the Phonon section the device is always grayed out.
- Therefore no sound in e.g. Amarok et. al.
BUT:
* Sound worked perfectly in KDE 4.4.5.
* GTK apps (like audacious) play sound crystal clear.
* Sound in Skype (Qt) works perfectly.
* ... and although KDE does not recognize my sound card, KMix adjusts volume
just fine! E.g. playing something in VLC I can adjust volume with the help of
KMix.
I checked logs and Google but don't have any clue where to look at.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Just updated to KDE 4.5 and sound is broken.
Expected Results:
Sound should work as in KDE 4.4.5
