Summary: Bug fix for improving KDE's image, and subsequently
improving the limitations of it's user base
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: shaun.reich at kdemail.net
Version: (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources
I am attaching a concept of a patch to fix the major (high priority) bug that
is limiting the size of KDE's userbase on my system.
I have created this mockup of a patch against current SVN trunk, as the problem
seems to be reproducible there still.
The concept suggests changing the pronunciation of KDE from "K-D-E", to
"kitty". This change makes sense on my system, as Qt is pronounced as "cute"
also, along with the fact that the phonetic sound itself seems to make sense
also, among other things... With this change, I also propose to change the logo
of KDE, to something more appealing to everyone.
Not only does this coincide with upstream's changes, it should make KDE more
attractive to many more users and in doing so, should also result in an
increased pick-up of new users.
This concept, however..needs some improvement. On my machine I can't/don't see
a noticeable improvement of the aforementioned amount of users, so I must have
done something wrong.
Could somebody please reproduce and post their outcome, along with any
suggestions for improving the concept?
