Summary: multiple screen setup problems, missing configuration
options
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: unspecified
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: cyberbeat at gmx.de
Version: (using KDE 4.3.2)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
On laptops, the Intel driver reports the VGA output (and others) before the
LVDS. KDE then seems to pick the first output as its "primary monitor". I
don't like this because it puts my panel in the external display.
Randr-1.3 has a new option "primary". This seems not to be supported? Would be
nice.
If I now unplug my external monitor, I get an unusable empty screen. I think
randr-1.3 should report (un)plug-events, too? Does KDE listen to these?
The first time I activated my external monitor with krandrtray it showed the
same as the internal screen, and multi-monitor-setup was disabled in
systemsettings. had to call xrandr from console. After that systemsettings
(restarted) displayed multimonitor setup, where I cannot change anything
layout-specific. Also my first runs of xrandr resulted in corrupted desktop,
where moving some windows made pixel-garbage.
Proposal: let me be able to change in kde-display-settings
a) the primary display (with main panel,..)
b) the layout setup ( for example by drag/drop the screens in the
layout-preview), I only achieved this by xrandr in console.
