Summary: KDE does not initialize
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: saycusca at gmail.com
Version: KDE session (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
I have been using kubuntu 9.04 and try to upgrade to 9.10. Starting the
computer by LiveCd, it seems ok (I have download DVD .iso and CD .iso) but when
appears kde screen loading the system it falls in a kind of looping: the icons
representing the loading begins to show and break, starting the process again
(as a kind of looping). Few days ago, I have upgraded 9.10 by the KPackageKit
and the problem remained the same; however, I select the old kernel on grub
boot and this make the system run (after this, some lib upgrade broke down the
system again! Unfortunaly, I can not remember exactly what file was
upgraded...). So, I have rise a hypothesis about this: it would be some problem
about my video hardware or with my motherboard. I would like some ideas how to
solve this. I run Fedora and Mandriva systems with KDE and the same problem
occurs; so, the problem must be about KDE new interface (KDE 4.2 works). I do
not also know how to describe or to inform this bug in a more appropriate way;
I do hold that the problem should be about VIA AGP Onboard. Thanks.
I'm using a desktop Semp Toshiba Celeron D326 2.58 Ghz, Chipset VIA P4M800 Pro,
VIA VT8237, 1 Gb RAM, 2 SATA HD 40Gb, VGA onboard VIA P4M800 Pro, AOC F19 18,5
Wildscreen.
