this is an ubuntu specific problem (~/.kde vs ~/.kde4). please report it there.

Actually it's in SUSE too, but regardless, there should be a KDE-provided
wizard for distros to include for the import process. Users don't need to know
or care that their data is in different places, they need to have an easy way
to switch if the distro allows them to run both versions of KDE on the same
system by putting their settings in different places.
