I can confirm this bug.
Happend for me since I tested first KDE 4.x which was 4.1 beta on my PC
I have an Onboard SIS and LG CRT Monitor.
tried several Window Managers with the same Ubuntu Base 8.04 -> 8.10 -> 9.04
(Enlightenment, Gnome, XFCE all work fine) so i don't think it's a X bug.
Only on KDE I get something like random monitor sync errors (hard to describe)
which really seem to happen more, when I move the mouse.
For me it's just black for less than a second, but enough to dismiss KDE for
this system.
