Summary: On KDE start mouse pointer is visible on laptop screen
but not on 2nd external monitor
Product: kde
Version: unspecified
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: bugsrep at gmail.com
Version: 4.2.3 (KDE 4.2.3) (using 4.2.3 (KDE 4.2.3), 4.2.3-2.fc11
Fedora)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.29.4-167.fc11.i586
I connected 1650x1080 external monitor to 1200x800 laptop. Almost each time
Fedora 11 KDE starts there is no mouse pointer on the external screen even
though it exists on the laptop screen. The screens overlap and have the common
(0, 0) point. Hence, I see the plasma panel only on the external monitor
because the laptop goes just 800 pixels on Y-axis.
If I move the mouse over the Fedora Application Launcher located at the left
bottom corner of the external monitor, it is highlighted. It is not difficult
to do it because the launcher is in the corner. I press on it, then move the
invisible mouse pointer over program names. The names become highlighted as
the pointer moves over them. I usually do 2-3 random movements and then
relocate the mouse pointer outside the application launcher widget. At the
moment the mouse pointer crosses the border of the launcher widget, it becomes
visible for the rest of Fedora 11 session. The same problem existed in Fedora
10 but not in Fedora 9.
