I have an nvidia 8800GT 512MB with the latest. I don't have Compiz on this
machine, but possibly compositing is in effect (don't remember).

I am at work now but will send you more details later. Please suggest what
output you wish to see, like lspci etc.

The nVidia driver version may be important (I don't remember howto get that
info when using Debian)
