Currently I use Mandriva 2009.1 Cooker upgraded from Mandriva 2009 Powerpack.
KDE is in latest version from Mandriva Cooker repository.

The situations looks as follow:

when I set folder view for desktop (not plasma) and something crashes - I have
to press ctrl+alt+del and then reboot laptop or just switch it off (super hard
reboot) and on, after the reboot desktop appears in plasma view (even if in
Appearance setting is still folder view - when this setting is changed by me
(first I choose plasma view and then folder view) fiolder view backs, but icons
are in completely different order than they were before rebooting.\
