The previous attachment is a list of the contents of my xine plugins directory.
I included it in case it helps, since I seem to have all the necessary codecs
to play the files with which I'm experiencing problems (there's an mkv plugin
in there, and the problematic files are all matroska files). As additional
information, the affected files all seem to contain mpeg4 video and AAC audio,
with ASS subtitles (and I also seem to have the mpeg codecs, not sure about AAC
though, but even if I was missing that I should at least get video output, and
I don't). I also checked which xine packages I have installed, and it looks
like I have all plugins available for my distro (Debian testing, packages
libxine1-misc-plugins and libxine1-plugins).
