Wether I in kate, kwrite, the desktop (to choose a wallpaper) or any other App,
when I click on the "Open File" button or select the action from the menu, the
application crashes with:

Die Anweisung in "0x014dde46" verweist auf Speicher in "0x00000000". Der
Vorgang "read" konnte nicht auf dem Speicher durchgeführt werden.

Looks like a NullPointer Exception to me. As this seemed to be related to the
open file dialog, I tried to toggle "use System File Dialog" in the System
Settings. But this had no effect.
