I attempted to send a message earlier today and apparently it didn't get into
the system.  I use PCLinxOS 7 also.  But it received a lot of updates this
month that changed the boot path to Linux release 2.6.26.8.tex instead of
PCLinOS.  I don't know the significance of that change but it should be noted
by the experts.  some of my programs required Gnome support but that change
occured two months ago without a problem. If this is inappropriate in this
place please let me know.
