Section "Serverflags"
        Option "AllowDeactivateGrabs" "on"
        # ^^^ use control + alt + keypad's divide
        Option "AllowClosedownGrabs" "on"
        # ^^^ use control + alt + keypad's multiply
EndSection

Is something you can add to your xorg.conf file to test things: If your
keyboard vanishes, then try hitting control & alt & either "multiple" or
"divide".

Also, nobody here is putting in what version of kde they are using. In almost
any toolbar at the top of an application (Konqueror works), you will see "Help"
---> "About KDE" ---> a version number. Please put that in your report. "KDE4"
doesn't help us very much, for example, the person above who lost their "e"
key: that is a known bug, somewhere in the 4.1.x branch (I think...) that has
been fixed. (Search for the closed bug report.)

If you try from a different user account, does this still happen? ie a "clean"
account with default settings.
