Summary: Audio preview fails until kdesktop restarted
           Product: kdesktop
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Mandriva RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: hammer.of.thor at hotmail.com

Version: 3.5.9 (using KDE 3.5.9)
Compiler: No compiler installed
OS: Linux
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

I have a preview facility on kdesktop where if I touch any audio file with my
mouse pointer, it will play out and allow me to hear the file.

But this does not work until I open a konsole, type killall kdesktop, wait for
kdesktop to die and then restart it.

The preview then works normally with all wav, mp3, ogg and flac files present.

I cannot provide backtraces, since this application has not actually crashed,
but to reproduce should be fairly easy. Simply open kde as your desktop, add
an audio file and touch it with your mouse pointer.

You should hear nothing. Open Konsole, and at the $ prompt, type killall
kdesktop.

Press Enter and wait a few seconds, then just type kdesktop and hit enter.

Close konsole, and then touch a music file on your desktop. You should now hear
a full playout of the file.
