When I start KDE4 and then extend the deskop on the second monitor (I use
xrandr) The plasma doesn't adapt to this and there are only black and white
squares. I can repair it only when I kill a start plasma again. 
I have graphic card intel 945, newest drivers, this problem appeared with kde
4.1 version
