While the above works, it added an extra step to a process that only requires
one step (plugging in the drive). I think the problem here is that this is not
a standard action for users - on Windows and KDE 3 drives automounted on
plug-in, rather than having to mount it by clicking an icon in a file system
browser.
Try this:
Plug in an external hard drive with your music on it. Start up Amarok
(previously configured to have a collection on the mountpoint). Result = no
music because KDE isn't mounting the device. I have to start up Dolphin, click
the drive icon, before starting Amarok.
Finally, explain that to a Windows user who is interested in using Linux and
who doesn't understand "mounting" (like I have done).
